Orientation for misumi profiles (bed) with open end plates?

Hey : ) i want to upgrade my shapeoko to an 1000 mm y-rail and open end plates. As far as i can see, the open end plates are usually connected /bolted down with a (misumi) profile which is placed parallel to the x-rail. If i want to make a complete bed from the profiles (hfsf5-2040-1000) would it ma...

Re: Offset Problem with 1 mm mill engraving/pocket

Hey Will, ah! Aweseome recommendation. Thank you. I have milled a lot on my shapeoko but this rule of thumb is still new to me. I think this is a good start but i already made some good engravings before with the same settings so i think this may not be the reason. The spindle is a real heavy waterc...

Offset Problem with 1 mm mill engraving/pocket

Hey all, today i ran into a problem which i did not recognize before. I made some engraving with a 1 mm end mill. Some of the letters do have a visible offset within the letters. I have no idea what the reason for this behaviour could be. V-Wheels are tightened and i did a testrun without milling wh...

Re: Second (?) pass way too deep (new heavier spindle)

Hey Guys, i really had a hard time figuring this out ; ) I double checked everything and always manually optimized gcode. Finally i found out that i had a combination of two issues. First there was the too fast plunging of the z-axis as mentioned by several users. I solved this by manually replacing...

Replacing G0 with G1 FX only works when z is raised?

Hey all, i am a little bit confused. I already opened another thread regarding my z axis issues but for this question it makes more sense for a new thread. As a part of my troubleshooting i tried replacing all the G0 Z commands in the Gcode with G1 F150 Z in ordner to slow down the z-axis. This work...

Re: Second (?) pass way too deep (new heavier spindle)

Of course! Please find attached the grbl settings. The z-axis temperature is reduced now (only warm after an hour of usage). I milled a file some minutes ago. It worked about 2 hours and milled 6 of the same items. On the 7th item there was once again the same issue of increased depth / plunge of z ...

Re: Second (?) pass way too deep (new heavier spindle)

Hey all, i am really desperate at the moment since i cannot solve this issue. I lowered the seek speed and i tried to increase voltage or reduce voltage on the z-axis. Everything stays the same. The machine works well for some time (sometimes an hour, sometimes half an hour) and then goes mad by get...

Re: Second (?) pass way too deep (new heavier spindle)

Hey all, sorry for my late reply. Thank you very much for your ideas. I am not sure how i can slow down the z-axis speed. Should this be done via grbl? Currently grbl tells me that i use 25 mm/sec^2.Is this too much? I have already installed heat sinks on the grbl shield and use two big fans from bo...

Second (?) pass way too deep (new heavier spindle)

Hey all, i just upgraded to a new china spindle for my eshapeoko and the first test went very fine. The second and any other tests showed up a big problem i do not understand: I made a test pocket and the first pass (about 1 mm) is ok but the second pass (also 1 mm) is very much deeper (about 3 to 4...

5 kg spindle > which steppers?

Hey all, i am currently setting up a "china spindle" with about 5 kg for my eshapeoko. I already have dual-x rail and dual-y drive. On every axis i use a nema 17 at the moment. Does anyone have experience if the nema 17 are still good enough or do i need something stronger like nema 23 on one ore mo...
