Now it really sucks

Though out the week I have been working on getting a dust shoe incorporated into the hinged mount. There are still some refinements that need to be made but I figured I would use this for now. That way I will have some lessons learned. photo-6.JPG I brought the hinged mounts over into SketchUp and a...

Re: #1016, Conversion 1M x1M for Hobby Panels

How about using a cross dowel bolt with a 3-D printed quick-release lever that uses the dowel as an eccentric pivot? It would work much like a bike saddle quick-release. Your parts would stay mostly the same, except instead of round holes, the movable part would have to have a slot, and the fixed o...

Re: #1016, Conversion 1M x1M for Hobby Panels

i was wondering if you had put any miles on the 3d printed spindle mounts yet? I have a design that after a few dozen hours of hard milling show splits at a few of the layers. have you seen this? Have you put yours thru any rough milling? They have not seen any milling yet. They are fresh off the p...

but if you insist on making them even more convenient...
Those would be good if I didn't have a 3d printer and not at a bad price.

Re: #1016, Conversion 1M x1M for Hobby Panels

For your quick release what about using the bales or ratchets and buckles off an old pair of ski boots. :o Excellent Idea! I might even be able to do this sort of thing from scratch. I live in south Texas so the chance of finding old ski boots is low. But... some bike racks have the same sort of th...

Hinged DW660 Mounts

Hinged DW660 Mounts These to me are a first step in designing a quick release mount for my spindle. A prototype if you will. They are not exactly quick yet but I wanted something to hold the spindel now as I ponder it a while. I have ideas and but no one idea is shinier than the other. The first ide...

Re: Working on a diamond-circle-square tutorial

Thanks, yeah, that'd be the InkScape way of make a compound path.
:D Ok, getting the terminology down is half the battle I guess.

Re: Working on a diamond-circle-square tutorial

FWIW, I believe I've puzzled this out --- only the first object is placed in register, the balance are randomly placed, so if one wants everything nice and neat, then bring in only one object as a compound path (or whatever the equivalent terminology in InkScape is). I have not had this issue with ...

Re: Zerblatt's build

Is it duo LEDs you use, or is it best to have separate LEDs for readability/security?
I like to use separate LEDs. I find the visual separation helps.
