Re: Proxxon IB/E

A quick update. Dewalt showed up, and is now cutting 1/2" aluminum stock, at a much more aggressive pace than I did the Proxxon. Much more powerful. But much, much louder. Family is not happy with sound, but the tool is solid. Unsure of longevity.

It wasn't very square. But was (sort of) good enough to cut new mounts.
The new new mounts I cut with the new mounts were even better.
Care to share your new mount design?

Re: Proxxon IB/E

So, how long did it last? Do you think that the Dewalt would have stood up better? Thanks Mike I have been running for a couple of months, mostly weekends, on HDPE, UHMWPE, acrylic, and various woods. Rarely for more than a few hours at a time. This weekend, doing aluminum, I was cutting for maybe ...

Re: Proxxon IB/E

I had been very happy with my Proxxon. It was very quiet, and seemed to have enough power for what I have been cutting. Yesterday I tried aluminum sheet metal (helping out a HS robotics club) and it cut fine all day. This morning, it does not run, but sputters and caught and then stops. Dead. I thin...

Re: GRBL Freezes while sending a file

I was having similar issues (albeit with tinyg rather than grblshield) and they seem to have been due to electromagnetic interference messing up the usb communication. Anyway, I put the spindle (and my shop-vac) on a different ac circuit than my controller and laptop and my problems disappeared (kn...

Re: noob question

Wherever you reset your GRBL is 0,0,0. When you CAD up your design, you can set the coordinates where you want. For some things I like the lower left hand corner, for some the middle of the work piece. So, look at your design, figure out where it is going to move to, move the shapeoko to the origin,...

Re: GRBL shield - Z driver issue

Have you done the Z axis mod to the Grblshield?

Have you adjusted the current drivers on the board?
