Re: twforeman's Shapeoko 3 #0004 Upgrades - Long

I'm a bad Shapeoko owner, I don't use my machine nearly as much as I should.

But I did use it a few weeks ago and it worked great.

I used it to make a crank wheel for a project.

Re: stuff to post to the wiki

Hmm. Wonder if I need to tweak something for SSL.

I'll try and take a look at it shortly.

Re: y-axis limit switch installation issue

First thing that popped into my head was that you could just file a flat onto the standoff so it clears the wheel.

You could contact support at Carbide 3D and they would probably send you a new plate, but that would require disassembling the machine to install.

Knock yourself out.

Disk space is free and infinite after all. :)

Re: What is the smallest z (depth)distance a ShapeOko 2 can

However, realistically with the flex in the machine, the flatness of the bed, and various other factors, I would say that 0.001" would be about maximum precision I would expect.

A precision of +/- 0.001" is pretty tight for the S2. I was able to hold about +/- 0.005" on mine.

Re: Realigning a work piece

Your best bet is to do what real machinists do. Get a dial indicator and find a way to mount it to your Z axis. This is my mount: http://timf.anansi-web.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/01-y-cal-1.jpg Then you can run the indicator along the edge of your part until it shows that is it parallel to t...

Re: What is the most quiet AC powered spindle for the ShapeO

Yeah, "quiet" and "30k RPM Router" don't really go in the same sentence.

Your best bet is to build an enclosure.

Routers are not going to be quiet. A VFD spindle might be quieter, but not cheap.

Re: Can I get Universal G Code sender to read out in inches?

I made UGS display in inches. I think what you have to do is configure Grbl to report in inches.

Set $13 to 1

Code: Select all

$13=0 (report inches, bool)

That looks like a pretty nice and beefy controller.
