Re: Bent collet? - Replacement rotary tool?

I've been playing with my Shapeoko 2 today, jogging it up and down at different seeking rates. Anything over 750 in an upward motion isn't working for me (high pitch whine, skipping steps?). Unless my machine has other issues, I think 2500 is unrealistic, and probably caused the problem that made me...

Re: Bent collet? - Replacement rotary tool?

Will, in a forum thread from earlier this month (http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2310&p=17566&hilit=default+seek#p17566), you said that a good default value for $5 (default seek) would be 500. On the Hello World page, it's listed as 2500 (http://docs.shapeoko.com/helloworld.html - ...

Re: Bent collet? - Replacement rotary tool?

Big thanks to both of you. I was missing steps on the z-axis (high-pitch whine when trying to G0 upward), so I'll try lower the seek speed to something more reasonable. I've ordered the DW660 and mounts, so I should be good to go. I tried bending the collet back to straight on the spindle that came ...

Re: Upgrade parts for shapeoko 2

IC, how much do you charge for your DW660 mounts? Are they different than these? http://shop.shapeoko.com/collections/fr ... 660-mounts

Bent collet? - Replacement rotary tool?

I've finally gotten my machine assembled. I was trying my first jobs today. Everything went great for a while, then things stopped lifting back up the way that they should and crashed into the table. I'm not even entirely sure what has happened, but I do know that I broke the bit that came by itself...

Wasteboard and work clamping

I would like to set up my Shapeoko 2 for clamping with t-nuts (http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1025). Should I drill them directly into the wasteboard on the Shapeoko, or would you recommend putting them into another board and mounting that onto the Shapeoko's wasteboard somehow? ...

Re: Z-Axis making noise, running unevenly

Thanks. I started off with something misaligned and assumed that was the problem, not realizing that I was just trying to jog it too quickly. Everything seems good now.

Z-Axis making noise, running unevenly

I'm having essentially the same problem as in this old thread: http://shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1140 Should I try the things that are suggested there? Have there been significant enough changes to the Shapeoko 2 that the solution would be different? I rolled the rod on the table as sug...

Re: Stuck GT2 Pulley

Heat did the trick. I used a lighter on the aluminum and was able to get it off. I wasn't sure what to do after that, so I decided just to heat the pulley again and see if I could slip it past where it got stuck. It worked! Thanks for the tip.
