carving wooden ducks

I would like to carve some Korean ducks with my shapeoko 2, but my design skills are pretty poor; I certainly am unable to draw them into Fusion360, and suspect I need to have them scanned in some way. If I can get a model of a duck into Fusion360, I was thinking I would ‘cut’ it in half, and then m...

controller explanation, advice needed

I have a Shapeoko 2 that is upgraded to 1000m x 1000m. I am about to upgrade to nema 23 motors and 9mm belts, and it was suggested that I might also want to upgrade the electronics to an x-controller. My understanding of the electronics on the Shapeoko 2 is about as minimal as one can get, so I'm no...

Re: slots milled too small (designed in Fusion360)

That is a good idea, and I'm going to recheck it, again. Today I recalibrated my machine, and some values seemed off. I doubt that can account for much, but it's a start. This has made me wonder if I'm running into the limitations of the machine, when I try to machine small accurate pieces in alumin...

slots milled too small (designed in Fusion360)

I just tried to mill some 8mm slots on my Shapeoko 2 that I designed and generated the code in Fusion360. I posted the gcode and project to the Fusion360 program, and I was told "Your code is machining a slot the width of 4.825mm. Add in the radius of the tool and you get a width of 8mm" I am using ...

Re: New RasPyCNC with probing and shuttleXpress support.

First of all, this is a great idea. I have an unused raspberry pi and am in need of a computer to control my Shapeoko. I plan to order a monitor and a joypad and try it out. How do you connect the raspberry to the Shapeoko? I've always connected with a USB cable, but I wonder if this needs a differe...

Parts for Shapeoko 2 upgrade

I am planning to upgrade my Shapeoko 2 to 1000m x 1000m I looked at the kit parts online, and I am thinking that the following is what I’ll need: Makerslide (2) 1000mm long, for Y axis https://www.inventables.com/technologies/makerslide Wide Makerslide (1) 1000m long, for x axis (out of stock). Figu...

Re: Need to build a moving cabinet

Dave,
Where did you get those casters? I've been looking for something like them and can't find anything at my local places.
Thanks, Ric

Re: Fusion 360

Thanks--I'll probably get one. I also don't like using my nicer laptop.
I run bCNC because UGC wouldn't work on some files (on my mac). I'll try UGC to see how it works on the Pi.

Re: Fusion 360

Shook,
Could you give a few more details about how you use the Raspberry Pi? I'm specifically wondering if you have a monitor hooked up to it, as well as internet connection. My son suggested I go that route, but I haven't because I'm not sure what the setup would be like.
thanks.

Re: Where can I find the Z axis pully system for ShapeOko 2?

yesterday I emailed Brandon at improbable, and he is sending me a plate (I think it may have been his last one). He is a very helpful guy, and I'm really glad to have emailed him.
