Re: Presentation on making archery gear Central Pa. 30 July

It would be really nice if you could post more info about what archery equipment you've made, and photos. I've thought about trying to make some archery-related stuff, though I haven't gotten around to it yet.
Thanks

Re: how to split g-code file manually?

I assume you're asking about bCNC. If so, feel free to edit the following: I'm using Ubuntu (I can't figure out how to do anything on windows), and the steps I followed I found at: https://github.com/vlachoudis/bCNC/wiki/OS Basically, I did the following: python --version (to make sure I was running...

Re: how to split g-code file manually?

I tried those suggestions, but about a third of the way through java was using 90% of my memory, and I stopped it to avoid having the machine crash. The developer is working on a constant memory branch to solve problems like this. See: https://github.com/winder/Universal-G-Code-Sender/issues/321 htt...

Re: how to split g-code file manually?

I downloaded bCNC and it is running right now. The memory usage seems much, much, less than UGS. Hopefully this will work. Thanks.

how to split g-code file manually?

I recently got a cheap laptop, installed Ubuntu, and am finding that Universal-G-Code-Sender(UGS) runs out of memory if I try to send large files. The developer is working on UGS, but until then, I'm trying to figure out how to send a file with about 17,000 lines to my Shapeoko. One option seems to ...

Re: My tips

My PC is grounded, but I'm using a Shapeoko 2, and I will go out and make sure it is grounded. The only way I've been able to minimize the interference is to have the usb cable hanging away from the Shapeoko, suspended from the ceiling. Grounding it may help. Thanks!

Re: My tips

How do you make sure the USB cable is earthed at both ends? Is this something you buy, or something you can easily do?
Thanks

Re: Shapeoko 3 connected to Debian Linux - Install & Setup n

I'm curious as to why you did: Installed, via Synaptic "arduino" and "arduino-core" Last week I resurrected an old Debian machine to use with my Shapeoko2, and I did pretty much everything you did except the above step. Everything seems to work fine, and would I gain anything by adding the arduino a...

Re: Cad/Cam: Fusion360 vs Blender

Unfortunately I couldn't get Fusion360 to work on the Rhino file either (but it was a good idea). I posted this problem on a Fusion360 cam site, and one guy showed how to do it. First you need to open the stl file in meshmixer and reduce the number of triangles (at least to under 10k). Once this is ...

Re: Cad/Cam: Fusion360 vs Blender

I've now spent some time learning Fusion360's cam features, and eventually realized that it won't work with the files I'm using. Brian pointed this out when he said "Fusion 360 can't CAM polygon meshes," but I didn't realize how important that was to me. I'm trying to make some surfboard fins that a...
