Re: Vac or planer ?

With the combination of a decent block plane and a good smoother, you can flatten all of those boards in no time. I would recommend a # 4 1/2 smoother as a good all-around plane. You can get this one from Woodcraft (http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/158001/WoodRiver-4-12-Smoothing-Plane.aspx) and it ...

Re: Vac or planer ?

The CT is a great vac. But if you don't have any Festool tools other than the vac, you might not make full use of it's features (enough to warrant the cost, that is). For my money, if I only have about 600 to spend, I would buy a cheaper shop vac and a Dust Deputy, or a small dust collector from Gri...

Re: S3 Hello World - so which part of my machine is bowed?

figured it out. the mounting screws are too long and/or the holes inset too deep. So the threads extend past the pem nut, causing the bow. This only occurs in the center holes. Pic for reference: http://i.imgur.com/IImwn2i.jpg I have some #10 flat washers on hand, but they are ever-so-slightly too l...

Re: S3 Hello World - so which part of my machine is bowed?

Back in the SO1 days there were instances of plates being slightly bowed like this. Mine were. I put them on a towel over a threshold and pressed down on opposite ends w/ my feet, checking and adjusting until they were straight enough. Thanks. I'll see what I can straighten. Both mdf pieces are fla...

Re: S3 Hello World - so which part of my machine is bowed?

Well, I took the wasteboard apart, and this was what the center crossbar underneath looks like: http://i.imgur.com/f6vUsRH.jpg (again, sorry for the large size) Is this something I should try to bend back out? Or should I ask for a new one? I don't imagine I'll ever get that straight anyway. I do re...

S3 Hello World - so which part of my machine is bowed?

Hi. S3 #035 checking in. Finally got around to finishing the assembly and alignment of my machine today. Ran the official Hello World test, and it came out like this (sorry, I am apparently too dumb to figure out how to embed photos properly here): http://i.imgur.com/3i2GkN2.jpg Has anybody else had...

Re: MegaRail 80 and the MegaRail Family

Chances of megarail 80 being compatible with the SO3 rails? They look pretty similar, anyway.

Also any idea on price?
