Re: How to control the SO3? Oh, so many ways...
I use a 10 year old laptop (1 core 1.5G of RAM), running Lubuntu with either UGS or bCNC. It works fine, but the backplot for complicated jobs can be a bit slow to refresh.

Bas-relief Bunny
This is my first experiment with 3D carving, 2 wasted bits of wood but the 3rd time turned out great. IMG_20160608_152624.jpg IMG_20160608_162047.jpg I used an stl mesh that you can find here . Using CamBam, I scaled the mesh x & y by x2 while leaving z the same and rotated to fit my machine. The ro...

Excellent, I love the way you have integrated your phone camera and the Arduino controller. It would be cool to use your rig to create VR models that you could view through Google Cardboard, also on your phone...

Re: Hybrid Project - Kids Kitchen Helper
Cool! For those of us who are lacking in the traditional carpentry skill department, you can use the "50 Digital Wood Joints" designs to CNC it all. http://www.flexiblestream.org/project/50-digital-wood-joints With a small bit the dog bones on the inside corners are not really noticeable and even ad...

Simple SO2 x-axis stiffining mode
I've been wanting to stiffen up the x-axis on my SO2, but have been reluctant to drill through the make slide. I came across this mod on the Inventables forum the other day. https://discuss.inventables.com/t/a-30-minute-x-axis-mod-to-reduce-chatter/15775?u=kellyhickel For what its worth, it seems to...

Re: bCNC touch Plate
I don't have bCNC in front of me, but after the probing cycle you can enter the thickness of the touch plate in the "Z" WCS text box which is on the same pane as the probe command. This will give you a Z zero at the bottom of the touch plate, you can zero the X & Y WCS coordinates the same way. I'm ...

Re: Do background tasks glitch toolpaths?
I'm using a positively ancient laptop (10 years old 1 CPU core), running Lubuntu LTS 14.04. It runs UGCS just fine.

Re: Hall Effect Sensor Compatability
When using the Freetronics switches, do you need any extra components like pull up resistors or RC filters and the like?
Thanks,
