OK, that's good! It means your computer is not connected to the Arduino UNO and nothing is toast (yet).

Now, connect UGS to a different COM port (you're using Windows right?), make sure the baud rate is 9600.

Keep connecting to subsequent COM ports until you see Arduino respond with "grbl 0.8c"

Ok that got me the "grbl 0.8c" Should i be able to move the axis by the machine control in UGS?

Does the gshield have 24VDC power connected?

Gently try pushing the x or y axis, do they give? or resist?

If they resist, that's good, they have power. If they give, that means they might not have power or not energized to hold position.

OK, are you sure the gshield have 24VDC power?

If so, with everything powered off, check the wiring. Using a multimeter test the wire connections from the gshield to the stepper motors. Also make sure the cables are connected to the right connection point.

Thats not going to be so simple....I didnt want to use the junction blocks so EVERYTHING is soldered :o So technically i should just be able to cross the pairs and check for resistance?
