Hole in the waste board for more Z travel?

Post by COMarcus » Mon Mar 06, 2017 2:39 pm

I need a couple extra inches of z travel for a few small projects. Has anyone cut like a 4"x4" hole in the waste board and set your workpiece diretly on the table underneath?

Yes, folks have been doing this since the SO2 days (the SO1 was open-bottomed).

So long as you then don't move / twist / torque the machine beyond its structural limits, you're fine --- of course, folks w/ metal wasteboards can do quite a bit more: https://www.reddit.com/r/shapeoko/comme ... rkholding/

Different subject :

I noted some time back you had rails from an old upgrade.

I want to modify a 600mm rail using the shakeoko 3 to do it.

Do you still have any around .
