3D Printed Dust Shoe with Quick release for DW660

Post by dataway » Thu Feb 13, 2014 8:29 pm

I just wanted to share this dust shoe I printed on my 3D printer for the DW660. I printed it up last night and put it to the test this morning cutting a sign for a friend and it works great. I especially like the quick release clip that allow you to remove the shoe quickly for a bit change. I tested cutting MDF which creates quite a bit of dust and after my cutting I am happy to say it controlled the dust very well.

You can find the dust shoe on Thingiverse

It took my printer approximately 2 hours to print as it requires supports. It took me another hour to to clean it up and remove all the supporting material and used some Acetone to smooth it out and seal it.

Isn't that a Dewalt DW660 (not a DW611)?

If so, I guess this is after removing the quick change tool collar / it goes on in place of that?

Very clever design and I really like the toolless clip holder.

Hey WillAdams,

Thanks for that clarification will, I updated the thread :D

You are correct I did remove the Quick change tool collar and this slips right over the lip of the tool in place of that collar.

Good work data way. Very nice piece. And great looking finish after the acetone treatment. What printer did you use?
Shapeoko2 #3702:
DW611, arduino uno, gshield v5, NEMA23's on X & dual Y, NEMA17 on Z with ACME rod, 9mm belts, Mean Well NES-350-24V power supply, re-inforced gantry rails.
Soon to have inventables spindle mount and 1M X axis.

Thanks Chomdh, the 3D printer I use is a Printrbot Plus but has been modified from the original..I purchased it on their original kickstarter campaign.
