3D Printable 65mm Spindle Mount

Post by zorlack » Thu Feb 20, 2014 3:39 am

I just ordered an 800W 65mm spindle. While I wait for it to arrive I designed a mounting system designed to attach the spindle to the z carriage and provide dust collection.

Check it out, it's a work in progress!

Well my spindle came in today, so I got to test-drive my mount and see how everything fit!

This video shows a bit more of the dust-collection features... although the system still needs tweaking.

I'm looking at the same spindle you've purchased, I was wondering if there was any way I could pay you for your time to make one of these mounts for me? I'm still a couple weeks away from mounting one, but would like to start working on getting things in order. Please let me know, I've been looking at 3d printers but haven't purchase one yet to do these sorts of mods.

Mount design looks good. Makerbot ABS shrink rate is variable depending on part geometry and can lead to a lot of test prints...

Which spindle did you go with??

Nice design!

Have you considered adding a mounting area for a dust skirt? I've found that having one allows me to run the vacuum at a much lower setting.
