For me its 12$ per sq ft as I buy it through my work. I cut it out of some scrap i had laying around. Usually you'd be looking at a lot more. Its 20"x20" roughly.

:-D Thats why this took so long to make, I pushed it off to the side until i found out how cheap i could get the materials. The only thing i don't like it that i cant really resurface it with the shapeoko. Id have to throw it on a surface grinder then use shims to flatten it on the shapeoko.

That is an awesome setup....where did you acquire that Touch Plate? ...I wonder if I could integrate that into the tinyG controller...

I just got the same touch plate and I'm kind of disappointed. I assumed it was spring loaded.
Is this any better then using a small chunk of metal with a wire attached? Or even a small copper clad PCB board? IMO - not worth $25 to me.

I have been using the exact same cutout tool for a few months now.
The bottom of the spindle does get hot during extended usage but so far no problems.
I'm not sure if the heat is simply from the motor, bearing, or the cutting bits themselves.
