Re: New X-axis plates
Boy... I can't win with these motor mounts plates! I'll chalk this one up as another design flaw on my part. Sorry about that.
The good news is smooth idler location is not critical, so drilling the holes by hand (although a PITA) will work just fine.

Don't be so hard on yourself! It's still a win, just maybe not a shutout
Seriously, drilling out the holes is trivial. Probably 5 minutes.

Re: New X-axis plates
Out of curiosity, have the designs been updated to correct this "flaw" for folks wanting to use Nema 23? The most recent version of the design zip file has a "v3" version suffix on it.
Thanks!

Re: New X-axis plates
I just cut out a set of the v3 plates last week and they do incorporate a fix for the NEMA 23 motor/idler pulley problem.

Re: New X-axis plates
Thanks! I appreciate the info. By the way, I ordered a couple of the upgrades (z-axis related) this morning...hopefully the order/payment got through to you successfully....unless somebody else actually handles these items and I misunderstood.
Thanks again.

I just got the mechanical kit from Inventables and am planing on Nema23 motors. What is this problem with the current plates?Improbable Construct wrote:I just cut out a set of the v3 plates last week and they do incorporate a fix for the NEMA 23 motor/idler pulley problem.

Re: New X-axis plates
There is no problem with the stock plates.
If you had the v2 upgrade plates and wanted to run NEMA 23 motors the idler holes interfered with the motor.
Fixed for v3.

Re: New X-axis plates
Is there still somewhere to buy the new end plates so I can use standard 2040 extrusions? I don't see them anymore in the "upgrades" section anymore....
