Tips?

Yeah...
Check the build logs. There's a few 1000 x 1000 builds going through at the moment.
(Mine's one of them)

Generally, the difference is that you swap out the original Makerslides with 1000mm Makerslides, replace the belts and that's it.
Except that the Y-axis needs to be supported somehow. That's usually done with simple brackets on the inside where they won't interfere with the motor carriages.

Also, this thread really belongs in the 'General discussion/Discussion' forum, not in 'Design Ideas'.

There are a couple of these machines under ``Square'' under: http://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/ ... mentations in the wiki.

as well as a section on the 1000x1000 Inventables upgrade: http://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/ ... es_Upgrade

and this was the size of the original scaled up machine used for stylus testing which Edward made which is also there.

Also, the eShapeoko comes in 1000mm x 1000mm as one of the standard options, and you can see how its frame, X-axis rail and X carriage are assembled in the assembly instructions.

Can you link to some of the build logs as searching these forums is such a pain

Mine:
http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2025

http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4281

http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3756

Not certain about this one:
http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1877

The first 3 were on the 'first page' of the build logs.
The 4th was on top of the second page of logs.

There may be a few more among them, and certainly a few older ones, too, but those are the ones that either state 1000x1000 or looks like it.

Frankly, there's almost as many ways of building a 1000x1000 machine as there are builders...
