Another Dust Boot idea

Post by Billkiss » Tue Dec 22, 2015 9:23 pm

After reviewing many of the different Dust Boot or Shoe or collector ideas , I came up with this design which incorporates suggestions for several.
I think the most important idea came from Norweigian Creations.
https://www.norwegiancreations.com/2014 ... -dust-shoe

I had noticed that the Dewalt DNP611 coolant air really distributed the dust away from the endmill tip making it more difficult for the Dust Collector to "get" the dust.
I also wanted the Boot to be easily connected to the machine and also have high visibility of the endmill.

The Hackaday suggestion of using flexible PVC film rather then stiif bristles is good.

The design evolved to the version shown in the attached pictures.

I am using an iVAC Pro system along with a 1 HP Dust collector.
Information for the iVAC system is available at:

The unit is constructed of a combination of acrylic and Lexan solvent bonded with Methyline Chloride.
If anyone is interested I can provide part drawings and DXF files and brief instructions
