So I finally had a chance to put together a new waste board that I had a friend of mine run on a larger CNC. It includes a cut out for a rotary axis for wrapped Y work and 1"x8TPI threaded holes for wooden threaded hold downs. I had some problems with my BOB and waiting on a replacement on the slow boat from China, but, they did replace it at no cost to me. Next is to re-route and connect new limit switches.

What control setup are you using for the 4th axis?

At the moment I'm manually fixing the Y axis and swapping the connectors for the dual Y with the single rotary Y.

Needless to say, it's not as efficient as I'd like but one of the axis on the BOB I'm using (Amazon Chinese Special) doesn't work so I'm making do while I wait for the replacement coming on the slow boat. Lot's of room for improvement, like most SO2's.

Yeah, making a 4th axis is steadily moving up to the top of my priority list --- your machine may be the final nudge I need, though I'm wanting to look into making my own chuck and tail stock, and I'd dearly like to find a NEMA 23 motor w/ 4.5:1 or similar gearing.
