Want to buy GT2 Pulleys for SO2 (Nema 23)

Post by janapriya » Fri Feb 21, 2014 5:43 am

Ordered 3 pulleys from inventables at the beginning of February, and they are backordered till March :-(. Is there any place I can buy them?

I'm sure they have to fix their system, even though when items are instock when you order, you will be informed that they are backordered later.

We need to update the Parts and Purchasing pages.... but.....

http://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/Purchasing

http://www.bbman.com/ --- maybe this? http://www.bbman.com/catalog/product/20-2P06-6CA3
http://sdp-si.com/ searching on ``site:sdp-si.com gt2 pulley 20'' takes us to: http://www.sdp-si.com/D805/D805cat_2.htm which has: http://www.sdp-si.com/D805/D805_PDFS/se ... 502144.pdf and it looks like A 6A51M020DF0606 might be what's wanted --- verify at: http://datasheets.globalspec.com/ds/212 ... 20C76436EA

Oddly, McMaster Carr doesn't seem to carry GT2.... (really wish every company had a site interface as nice as theirs --- great write-up on it over on www.quora.com, or somewhere else that I'm not finding.... apparently their iPad app is quite nice: http://www.evilmadscientist.com/2013/mc ... -ipad-app/ )

Actually, the fabulous site story was for Grainger: http://www.quora.com/Web-Design/What-is ... web-design

Thanks a lot Will for the links. Seems little bit expensive than inventables. However, can't wait either :-(. Yeah I agree, both McMaster and Grainger sites are great.

@Garry, did you find 1/4 inch bore pulley? if so could you please provide the link?

Apparently, MXL (for the original ShapeOko) was a cost-saving choice over GT2, but since then, Inventables was able to find a bulk-source w/ better price, hence the shift to GT2 for the SO2.

Would GT2 a better choice than MXL in backlash as well? I'm little bit new to this.

Yes, that's the major advantage of GT2 --- the shape of the teeth results in less backlash / slop --- need to swap out the belts on my original machine when I get the chance.

No sorry the ones I got in 2 days were 5 mm and I was thinking like the guy had both but I just checked and couldn't find any 1/4 bore GT2. I would just carefully bore 5mm out for now if it was me..
