V1 works just fine. :) Plenty of people are happy with it.

V2 is more about making it easier to manufacture and install. There are no new features really.

Tim's point is well taken. How many features can you really add to a switch mount?

My designs were only suggestions to Tim about how the manufacturing might be simplified. It would be silly to replace working switches with these just because they are a newer design.

However, he might print them in a different color and if you like the new color then by all means buy a new set.

Hmm..

What color would go with the S3 besides black?

I could make them out of white, or red. I suppose I could even take custom orders for all sorts of colors.

Now there's a thought. Maybe when the new kit is ready I could have a color option... I could even make harlequin sets with each piece a different color.

I actually prefer the way Microcenter white PLA prints versus black.

Just to clarify - does this allow the switch to be mounted so that we can get the Z plate up to within a hair's breadth of the upper stops and maximize Z travel?

Can you clarify what "Upper Stops" means?

The new mount attaches to the stops and is hit by the edge of the carriage plate. It's also adjustable.

Guess I need to take a picture. I'll try and get one tonight.

This is the new Z limit switch mount.

It should clear just about any spindle you can mount.

It has some adjustment, so you can get the max travel.

Not wild about the loss of symmetry but none of my sketches has worked out yet.

Symmetry is overrated. I'll take functional any day. :)

Ack! Not just asymmetrical, but also not orthogonal! It's.... not leveeeeeelllllll! I'm definitely going to have to up my meds! calm breathing... calm breathing... in..... out..... in.... out.... :D

But that's exactly what I was asking - with the V1 mount, even using the top of the Dewalt to trigger the switch, I couldn't get the full upwards travel, but this looks like it will work great. Thanks!
