I ran across this spindle while browsing ebay. I believe it is similar to one of Edwards many spindle.: ... 666wt_1393

I'm not affiliated with the seller, just wanted to pass on the info.

What are the advantages to using a spindle like this compare to something like a DW600. I'm very new here as I just order my kit from batch#4.

The DW660 is cheaper, more powerful and can take 1/8" and 1/4" tools, but this spindle has lower runout, weighs less and is much quieter. So you'd choose this one over the DeWalt for precision work, and the DeWalt where you needed force or speed but less accuracy. That said, a ShapeOko can not position this spindle with a precision comparable to what it is capable of -- at least not with MXL belts -- so the DW660 is plenty accurate in practice.
