Mine also has that press mark, I don't think it's causing any problems though.

I got the kit from shapeoko.com and I am noticing some issues:

Note the motor mount is not sitting square with the extrusion. you can see the motor mount on the bottom not square either.

Also, it seems like my extrusion is potentially too short compared to the acme thread? With the two mounts flush against the extrusion, the extrusion can slide up and down on the acme thread about 1/2". I tried mounting the stepper, but there isn't enough room with the included screws and spacers for the anti-backlash coupling. I saw some info in the thread about trimming down the acme rod, so I will check where my lengths are tonight.

This is on a shapeoko v1. Not sure of the exact revision, probably v3 or v4 is my guess.

ideas?

It looks like you have the mounts on upside down. The bearings should be flush with the makerslide. This will trap the screw between the bearings and keep them from sliding out.
to try and fix the alignment issue remove the acme nut from the plate and flip it over. It may fit better that way. It is not always possible to get the top and bottom plates to sit exactly square, especially on the shapeoko 1s.

Hope this helps.

Perfect. Spinning the plate around seems to have helped with the mis-alignment, and flipping the one mount seems to have fixed the slack on the acme screw. Now to see if I will have to use the hacksaw or not...here's hoping not

I installed the upgrade and the NEMA 23 belt drive kit. It all seems to work except the Z seems to bind about 1.5 inches from the top bearing. The plate does not have any play for adjustment. Any Sugestions?

Is there a model or drawing for the bearing plate at the bottom of the z axis?

Yes, here it is. Just remove the .txt from the end of the file name.

Sorry, I only have the .dxf but you should be able to open it with most CAD programs.
