Tool change with Fusion 360 on S3

Post by D@DENNIS.COM » Thu Jan 12, 2017 1:14 pm

Does anyone have experience with tool changing using F360 and carbide motion. My limited experience with F360 is watching it stop at a tool change in the middle of the table (or where ever it happens to be when the command comes up, leaving me no room to get to the spindle to put the new tool in . In Carbide Motion I could jog to a free position to change the tool and reset Z but the Jog command doesn't show up . Thanks for any help, I have been impressed with all the help this Forum has been to my learning process.

Thanks all.

I am only a lowly ShapeOko2 user, but from your description, Carbide Motion does not gracefully support tool changes, although it may well do in the future.

The best way to deal with this is either to postprocess operations separately, based on the tool type, or to split your gcode manually after it comes out of F360.
I usually split mine by hand, as it does not take too long.
