Parts subsection for the wiki?

Post by WillAdams » Mon Dec 22, 2014 4:21 pm

How does everyone feel about creating yet another sub-section?

* Parts
** parts|Overview
** makerslide|MakerSlide
** Belts and Pulleys|Belts and Pulleys
** Stepper Motors|Stepper Motors
** Power Supply|Power Supply
** electronics|Electronics
** Advanced Electronics | Alternative Electronics

I think it'd be okay, except for the paucity of the Stepper Motors page... I think there's some content on the Electronics page which we could move though.

After thinking on this more, I think it's the solution to the problem of the BOM being specific to the SO2 and the SO3's nascent launch.

Consider it done.

The one consideration / issue I think is Makerslide being listed under Parts....

I guess we'll add a page just on aluminum extrusions once we know more about the profiles which will be used for the SO3, w/ sub-pages for the extrusions which matter to / are specific to the project.

The only issue is this highlights how embarrassingly small the Power Supply page is....

I think "linear motion" or "aluminum profiles" or "rails", which then leads to MakerSlide and the two Shapeoko 3 profiles (do they have names yet?) would be better. Can you have a third level?

There isn't much to say about the power supply. I would not worry about it being a short page.

Feel free to copy whatever you think is worth copying from wiki.amberspyglass.co.uk. There isn't much there, but I think a little from here, and almost certainly some of this, may be useful.

I shuffled things around a bit trying for a better hierarchy (and to match the Electronics page). Arguably we should expand Electronics to its own sub-section, but that's getting a bit too fragmented I think.... (besides we need a page for Microcontroller first).

Catalin, I tried, but it doesn't seem to be possible to get a third level. Thanks for the links and permission --- I'll work on that when I get a chance.

I wasn't able to get the third level for my wiki either, but I didn't spend too much time digging around.
