Individual setups documented on the wiki

Post by pepik » Tue Jan 13, 2015 6:37 pm

I like that we have build logs in the forum - it gives people a chance to have a discussion about their individual builds and get advice if they're stuck. I think it could be helpful to have some of that on individual wiki pages, too. For example, I could add a page for my Shapeoko 2 #7266 which showed how I did cable management, what I was doing for dust management, electronics, etc. Now, there's nothing special about my build, but if lots of users did this, then it would be a wealth of information for anyone looking to build or modify their machine. Ideally there'd be a template that folks could use to make the process as easy as filling in the blanks.

What do you guys think?

(I'm still kind of new around here, so sorry if this has already been discussed, or if this is already happening.)

I think it's great for that. Some people have used their User:<name> pages for this --- I use mine as a general catch-all and logbook: http://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/User:Willadams

You can have multiple pages under your User: hierarchy if desired --- it's a great way to put up a page publicly, but to mark it as something which other people shouldn't disturb: http://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/ ... s_Tutorial
