400 watt brushless spindle and controller

Post by sdumond » Thu Feb 19, 2015 6:48 pm

I just purchased a 400 watt spindle motor and controller, and there was no wiring documents or information how to wire it. There was no CD with it as stated. I can't get any information from the vendor. If I don't get the information, I will have to send it back. I have enclosed the link to see if anybody out there has the information to this set.

I have scoured the internet to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Can anyone tell me what they think the RES switch on this might be? It turns from left to right and I have no idea what it's for.

Thank you

I actually have one of these in the mail (to replace the 'older' black cased version, that blew up). I believe that is a built-in potentiometer for speed regulation. You select using that (RESIN), an external pot (RESO), and PWM (from your main controller).

I'm not sure what the wire colors on the motor that ships with that particular Amazon item are, but it looks like the same generic 400W BL motor that comes with pretty much everything.

My version has:
HALL- Black 22ga
HC White 22ga
HB Green 22ga
HA Blue 22ga
HALL+ Red 22ga

W Black 18ga
V Blue 18ga
U Red 18ga

I'm not really sure how to measure out the hall sensors vs coil sectors, but maybe one of the electronics-savvy folks here can help more.

I have a tinyg controller and it has a pwm terminal to control spindle speed, but it does not have a terminal labeled pwm on the brushless spindle controller. I know there is one, but don't know which terminal it is. There is some dip switches that turns the pwm on, so I know it can do spindle speed control from the tinyg. If I can identify which terminal is the pwm would also help.

Thank you

I'm trying to get more documentation from my seller; if I get that or get mine working, I will definitely share.

So, for what it is worth (and anyone searching this later), I had a friend of mine who speaks Chinese translate the labels on the attached picture. If your motor is different, compare the characters on the labels.

U = Red, V = Blue, W = Black

5V = red, HA = blue, HB = green, HC = white, GND = black

I have a different type of brushless DC motor, and the people who made that one were a little smarter about color-coding the wires. The Hall-effect sensor supply wires are red and black, as you'd expect, same as this one; but the sensor output wires match the colors of the respective phases (the three thicker wires). That way, you don't need instructions -- just wire the windings and the sensor outputs in the same color order, and it works (and if it turns backwards, flip two phases and their corresponding Hall-efect sensors). This is just one of those little touches that cost nothing but make a difference in the usability of a product.

I received the english manual for this. I don't know how to attach or send it. It is an PDF file, but I don't want to advertise my email address on the forum. I see you guys attaching stuff on here, but I don't know how to do it. Please let me know and I will get it to you.The file is too long to attach.

The PDF file is too big to attach. So it says.
