CauCau 850W Spindle mount

Post by silv49 » Mon Apr 06, 2015 8:31 am

Hi all,
I have seen a thread discussing some slight issues with mounting the CauCau 850 router and I wondered if anyone had any photos of how they successfully resolved these issues?
I am about to order one of these (at 54 Euro it has to be worth a try, doesn't it?) but thought it might be an idea to make sure it can be mounted on the SO2 without too much trouble.

I had the router mounted using small adaptor plate I cut with the dremel knockoff:

Larger holes (countersunk) held it against Makerslide and smaller were used for attaching the CauCau mount plate.

It was bit too far from the Z, but the bigger problem I had was overheating. I managed to kill my first CauCau with a ~2h job and almost killed the replacement machine too.
Now I’m very happy with Makita RT0700CJ (which fits perfectly into the spindle bracket provided with eShapeoko).
The 6mm to 3,175 adaptor I bought with the machine is still in use and it works great, the aluminium spindle mount is used as probe plate and CauCau itself as a hand router for “normal” woodworking – so it kind of worked out :)
