Need software recommendation for vector laser cutting

Hey there, folks. I Need software that can be used for converting images into vectors for my laser cutter. I tried using the JTech Inkscape plug in but it's throwing Python errors that I'd rather not spend time debugging.

Can anyone recommend a good program for creating GRBL out of images? It doesn't need to be freeware - it just needs to work.

Not familiar w/ the JTech Inkscape plug-in --- link?

Also, one of the recent laser projects has done software specific to laser use which they're selling commercially --- not tracking commercial software as well as I might, since I'm not going to use any.

The guys at JTech make a great product and provide excellent customer service. I know that they stop by here now and then, so here's the error code I'm getting, in case they want to see it:

It looks like it's unable to detect the size of the vector toolpath area.

FWIW, I followed the link for the "laser-code" project but there's nothing downloadable on the destination site:

Perhaps this is an abandoned project?

Check out Laser Imaging Editor
More of a raster engraver.

With GRBL 8C laser or GRBL 9g laser
This will control pin 11 on arduino to PWM laser

It can use the spindle speed commands to control laser
M3 SXXX Laser ON S 0-255 for power adjust
M5 Laser OFF

Software still in development

Another solution
Connect up a micro switch to apply 12V to trigger Laser ON
when Z is commanded below the point the micro switch closes
You may use 12V from fan port on Laser driver to supply 12V to micro switch

Then use inkscape - makercam - UGS to burn with vectors

The new version of inkscape is throwing some errors now and then. Sorry you have found one... We have updated the software on the website for download here to fix many of these bugs: http://jtechphotonics.com/?page_id=1980

You can check to see if this fixes the problem. First, open laser.py to make the change.

on line 3086:

It should be changed to this:
