Double End End Mill

Post by jbc » Wed Sep 30, 2015 8:20 pm

Anyone use a double end end mill?
More specifically with a DEWALT DWP611 (or the like) router.

On a straight bit I'd worry about the collet bending the delicate blade edges, but since it's tapered I don't think that's much of a concern.

Thanks for the input. I didn't think about that (for other dual bits).

I don't think that bit is tapered. You have two issues here:

1. Is the collet going to be clamping on the sharpened edges of the bit?
2. Is the hole in the motor shaft deep enough that you can get the bit far enough into the collet?

A double end mill like this one is made to be used in a special tool holder that has a hole in it the same diameter as the end mill and a set screw to clamp the end mill into it.
