Best tool to weld Polyethylene sheet? Laser or Soldering?

I've got a few projects in mind that require welding plastic sheets together to make channels. Similar to an inflatable pool raft, but smaller. I'm trying to figure out what the best tool would be on my Shapeoko. Would a cheap laser get the job done? Or should I find a ball-nose soldering iron to mount?

Does anyone have experience with lasers, soldering, or other techniques?

I don't believe you'll be able to 'weld' PE on a laser. Anytime we use it on our lasers at Jumbie Industries, it cuts it pretty easily. So even with low wattage, I don't think that's going to be the right product.

Whenever I'm unsure of a material, I typically check with the tube manufacturer for my large laser, Synrad. They have a ton of applications articles on their website. I bet you could reach out to them and ask.
