Squaring Gantry (XYYZ)
Squaring Gantry (XYYZ)
Has anyone had any luck using independent homing switches on a dual-Y axis to square the gantry? I've been doing research and come across a lot of references to gantrykins and stepper-gantry configs, but I can't seem to make heads or tails of how to set up the system so that it can square my Ys using the homing switches. Has anyone else sorted this out, or do you just manually square each time before starting linuxCNC?

Well, I don't think I can answer all of your question, but I've had just over a year's worth of experience using LinuxCNC in a XYYZ configuration. I only have one homing/limit switch on the y-axis, and have never really seen any problem with the gantry staying square.
If you want to link to what you are referencing, I would be interested in taking a look at it.

ISTR that Improbable Construct mentioned something about this. And we do have a small section on the wiki w/a single link: http://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/ ... tor#Homing
http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic ... 11&t=6#p89
Which notes the necessity, but not the technique.
