Seeeduino v3 does not work with grbl 8c

Post by nickscnc » Sun Feb 24, 2013 11:26 pm

My controller using the seeeduino v3 atmega 328 works well with grbl v0.8a but not with v0.8c.
The motors move only in one direction for any pos/neg command.
I used the hex file from the grbl site.

After the upgrade did you set all you parameters again? You may also want to ask this question at the developer github page.

Hi,

Yes I reset all the parameters, and still it did not work.

When I manualy type x10 or x-10 the cariage move only in the positive direction

Are you typing "x10" or "g0x10"?

If it's the first one, that's not a valid G code command and I wouldn't expect the machine to move at all.

I think it works without G0 or G1 because the mode is modal and you don't need to type it all the time... anyway the issue sound like the direction on the Arduino is not connected to the direction pin on the stepper driver. Looks like this one bit is not toggling. The big question is now is this a hardware issue or firmware issue... have a look in the configuration to see what pin is used for direction... check if this pin toggles (use a LED or voltmeter)

Just as a further note, I bought a USBTiny AVR programmer and flashed my Seeeduino with GRBL 0.8c the other day.

It works great, so I would suggest you are looking at a hardware problem.
