PWM on shapeoko 3 re-flash J TECH GRBL - X-Loder / Hexloader

Post by F03 » Sun Jun 19, 2016 7:37 pm

Happy Fathers Day,

I purchased a J TECH laser and trying to upload J TECH's GRBL, however, I can not flash anything to the control board. While using a MAC < Hexloader < I RCV this message;

avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding
avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 1 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x00
avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding

and when using X-Loader, it just hangs and here is my current settings....

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

In X-Loader, have you selected the correct board (Arduino Uno) and the correct bit rate (115,200 bps)? Also, the correct port that the Arduino shows up as (I don't know what that would be on a Mac).

Do you have the latest CarbideMotion control board with the giant capacitor on it? If so, there is a micro button under the capacitor that has to be held down in order to flash the Uno. I don't know the exact requirements around the button, but I know that it took me over 10 tries to get it right. I *think* you have to hold the button down before the board powers up, and keep it held until the flash process completes. After I finished reflashing my board, I let go of the button and then power cycled it (I even unplugged the USB cable). I don't know if that is necessary, but I am up and running with a new grbl version.

Sorry about the delay in responding back. My serial port and baud rates on both my MAC and Windows machines are right cause I can controller and send commands to my SO3 via universal g-code sender or carbine create or motion software, however, when I try to send upgrade or change grbl I can not get it to do anything.

I have not tried to hold the reset button, power on, and attempt to upload. I will give it a try however I don't see a huge capacitor. Here is my current controller board. I'll give it a try tonight and see if it works.

I am not referring to the reset button; that is a separate button. I have version 2.3 of the CarbideMotion controller, and it appears as if you have version 2.2. In version 2.3, there is a micro button on the opposite side of the board, just under the connectors for Limit Switches, Probe, etc. It is hidden underneath a huge capacitor that I believe was added to help with the USB disconnects.

Since you don't have version 2.3, then I would contact support at support@carbide3d.com. They have always been helpful when I have contacted them.
