XXL Projects for Junior High

Postby woodworkerbob » Thu Jan 31, 2019 5:12 pm

Just finished assembly and running 'hello world' on serial number 9980.

Now I'm tasked with finding projects that will work for 6, 7, 8th graders.

When I was that age, I made a simple open toolbox, as well as a screwdriver.

What is the availability of materials? Are the students expected to pay for materials out of pocket or will they be provided?

What sort of CAD/CAM expectations are there? Will the students be designing the project from scratch?

My inclination here is to work from the principle that there are two different kinds of furniture / 3 kinds of projects:

- boxes
- platforms
- sculptural things

6th grade --- a simple single bookshelf
7th grade --- a simple open box
8th grade --- a box with a hinged lid and possible other features depending on the student's skill level
