Fishing rod

I used my shapeoko to laser cut for foam inlays, to shape the foam handles and to laser engrave the rod itself.

For the inlays, I cut the EVA foam at about 1/2 watt. For shaping the foam I used a rotary attachment I had built using a stepper motor connected to one of the axis. 100 mm, 1/8" 2 flute bit, no worries on pass depth. The foam is final shaped using a drill press and sandpaper.
For the engraving, I used the rotary attachment and about 1/2 watt on the laser.
All the modeling was done with Bobcad V21 but the gcode has to be cleaned up. Snapfracturepop has a gcode parser for laser use that I have not tried.
