Mounts for Generic UK Spindle

Post by RobCee » Mon Feb 10, 2014 10:23 am

Howdy folks,

My first job for the new ShapeOko2 was to sort out some sensible mounts to hold the spindle vertical. Since the standard spindle has different diameters along it's length, you can pack it out with tape or some alternative to get it pretty vertical, but I was not happy with that.

I went ahead and designed a new set, which I made out of Nylon66, which was interesting to machine as a new material to me.

From these, I re-designed the shape to make it easier to assemble and also started thinking about mounting a dust extracton tube along side it.

If anyone wants to play around with them, here is a DXF of the CAD file I created.

Excellent use of the machine to improve itself. :-)
