State Outline Cut in Veneer

Post by nfortosis » Tue Mar 11, 2014 4:56 pm

A project from a while back, but thought I\'d share to test out the new project page. Simply found a svg of the state outline, converted to dxf and programmed in CamBam (I would think it would be pretty easy to do in MakerCAM).\r\n\r\nThe hardest part is holding the veneer down and keeping it from splitting. I found that rubber cement worked well, as long as it didn\'t cure all the way so I could take the pieces off easily. \r\n\r\nI then used some foam board to offset it and mounted it in a shadow box.

Ooh, and your frame is shaped like Colorado!

Or is that Wyoming?
ShapeOko Batch 2, Number 571, dual-Y motors, Y belts outside, odd anchors. Not operational at the moment: needs rewiring.
