Mother's Day Sign

Post by dataway » Sat Mar 29, 2014 7:11 pm

Getting ready for Mother's day and printed out a new 3D Sign for my mom to place in her garden.

Layout and Toolpath's done using Aspire
Wood is 3/4" Pine
Bits used : Roughing 1/4" End Mill, Finishing 1/16" Ball Nose, Vcarve 90deg Vbit
Time to cut: 2 hours roughing, 4 hour finishing

My first attempt to use stain on a sign still need some practice :) Used the airbrush to lay in the color then finished with 5 coats of spray on Shellac.

That turned out very well. Your mom will love it.

@hoggy38 - This is my second 2.5D sign that I have created so am very new to CNC, so I have to give the credit to Vectric Aspire software which makes the workflow very easy. I have also created 5 Vcarve signs, one you can see in the project area, for friends as gifts and just got my first paying job to produce 3 signs for a New Brewery opening in the area. As for laying in the color, I have been air brushing for about 6 months. So I am very new to all of this but love to learn and have been learning a lot from this forum.

@selektha - I use the following in my workflow:

Vectric Aspire to do all my work in including tool paths -http://www.vectric.com/products/aspire.html
3D models I use the following site for -https://www.vectorart3d.com
I recently found this site which is where i got the inspiration for this sign - http://cncminiprojects.com

The Vectric Aspire software gives a lot of tutorial videos and you can find a lot more tutorials on youtube.

I sound like a sales person for Vectric :D but I have no affiliation other than being a user of their software.

Regards,

John

Would you mind posting the STL or 3d file of the sign?
