Fleur de Lis Coaster ... third times the charm.
Fleur de Lis Coaster ... third times the charm.
My third try at producing a Fleur-de-Lis coaster. Material is red oak. A little ragged around the edges...haven't yet lightly sanded it.

I like that design. With wood, a down cut spiral bit helps to prevent the "fuzzies". They are not good for deep narrow cuts as they don't clear chips very well but are great for large shallow pockets. It took me about 6 tries to get my first one without errors. Here is the first set I completed.

Thanks, I sprayed the walnut with " hammered aluminum" paint and after it had dried overnight milled it with a 1/4" down cut spiral bit. Only had to sand the back and then coated both sides with satin acrylic.
