TLR 22 chassis

Post by AFK66 » Mon May 18, 2015 11:19 am

Have had some free time so finally got around to working on a Carbon fiber chassis for one of my RC cars, TLR 22. Figured I'd share some pictures of the progress... All done with my Routakit HD Z and X axis. Highly recommended!

cool project! where do you get your carbon fiber from? I always thought that it was cost prohibitive to work with but would like to try it some time...

I get my carbon from Protech Composites. They often times sell carbon scrap in 1/2 or 1 lb packages that have random sizes of scrap in them.

Pretty awesome to see some RC action here. I'm still awaiting shipment but have several items in mind that no one really makes readily available to sell locally.

I thought about trying to rival Custom Works but I'm afraid that Tony Stewart might hit me with a car.

Lol, I've gotten a couple of test runs in with the chassis, and some how or another have shaved a couple seconds off my lap times at my local track. All the guys there have been quick to sign up for custom parts. It's been a fun experience so far. If I can figure out a cheaper way to acquire carbon I wouldn't mind attempting to produce some sort of rc upgrade line for a couple of the more popular brands, accociated, tlr.

Neat. I used to race an RC10 back in the day. I worked in a machine shop at the time and we made new aluminum chassis and parts all the time. Fun times.

We race on an indoor dirt oval with both 2wd SCTs and 2wd buggies running late model bodies. SCTs are easy to get body mounts for but nothing exists for the buggies because it's more like a DODC bomber class.

Seeing the retail cost of some of these parts really makes me scratch my head.

I can't wait to get my S3 and start doing some of this.......and if it turns out well, an army of S3s :)

Nice Job. I use to race all the time. I am an 1/8th scale nito person my self with a Mugen MBX 5R and MBX 5T. Just bought a new receiver pack and a Gallon of Nitro so I can get them out an play with them a bit. Probably will not race this year but never know. Closest track to me is about 75 miles away.
