Engraved Tele Control Plate

Post by bharbour » Sun Jul 05, 2015 10:27 pm

Used a 30 degree vbit, 10ipm feed, 3ipm plunge, .002" per pass, total depth .012". 6061 aluminum.

I will grind away to the outline and the cross hairs are for centering the drill press. I took two pics to accentuate the two engraved sections. i must say it was impressive to see the machine work lines that close together and those small curves.

That is very nice. Which CAD program do you use and do you freehand the spirals?

I used Inkscape. The free engraving patterns were from the Internet and were modified to fit what I wanted to do. Here's a site that has drawings that you can pull into Inkscape http://www.guitar-parts-depot.com/control-plates.html
