Birth gift

Post by xfredericox » Wed Jul 08, 2015 4:51 pm

Well my best friend recently became a father.

The birth announcement card had a 'letter cube'- font spelling the name, so i thought it would be fun to make them in real life.

Enjoy.

Very cool!

Post a picture of the birth announcement (w/ personal details obscured) for a comparison?

yeah i used a cheap piece of soft construction wood, probably pine.

Cuts were a bit ragged except the 2 crosscut sides which were very crisp right off the bat. Other sides took some light sanding.

well the guy was thrilled with the gift.

He was really confused at first, turned out he had been considering asking me to make this exact project for him (bc he knew I had a CNC at my disposal), but ultimately didn't out of fear it would be too time-consuming for me.
Then I came along and gave it anyways out of the blue.

Talking of coincidence. Well I guess great minds think alike :D

makes it so much more worth it!

Very cool & great story. We have our first child on the way. I showed this thread to my wife - she loved it so I will be making them soon.
