LEGO Ninjago LED Lamp

Post by PollyMotion » Sun Jan 03, 2016 9:12 pm

Happy new year, folks!

I managed to hide away a few hours now and then during the Christmas holidays. And during that time, I build a Lego Ninjago LED lamp for my youngest son.
It was quite fun, since I got to use my shapeoko 3 to mill a PCB for the first time.

The project is finished, but so far I've only managed to create a video for the first half of the project.
Hopefully I'll have some time later this week to edit the second half.

Here is part 1 of the project:

Great job. I love LED projects. I have a Batman poster that will eventually get a similar backlit treatment, if I can ever find the time. :)

Thanks :)
In the next video you should see how I did the lighting...
But it's not very advanced...

Here is the final part of the build, for those interested.
Come clips of PCB milling and some wood cutout of parts. (Shapeoko 3)

What process did you use for adding the overlay on the pcb?

I sort of cheated 8-)
I printed the silkscreen image on some photo paper and glued it on to the PCB.

I wouldn't call it a proper PCB making process, but I think it looked quite good :)
