Gotham City Police Picture

Post by atrueresistance » Mon Mar 14, 2016 2:32 am

Anniversary gift for my batman encrazed girlfriend. It took 8 hours and 21 minutes to laser engrave everything. I think that has to be the longest running job without a disconnect, although I was super worried as when I started the air filtration unit the serial disconnected. Thank god it didn't happen mid run. The engraving is 14.5" x 15" and utilized most of the SO3.

That is impressive, thanks for sharing. I always wondered how long something like this would take to run. Sounds like the laser is similar to 3D printing in how long a larger more intricate print would take.

Amazing. Is that wood? Can you link me to the laser? Can it also do aluminum? (I know nothing about them)

Yeah it is Baltic birch plywood.

I would link you, but the website is down.. . . This is the kickstarter. Last I knew Nick quit his day job to work on this project full time, but there has not been very much progress so I would not recommend going this route. I can recommend jtechphotonics having dealt with them, and knowing they have great customer service. If your more of a DIY guy, check out DTR's Laser Shop

Aluminum, Yes/No. That is a loaded question. You can take the Anodizing off, leaving the bare aluminum. Use a endmill for cutting though
