Re: Plastic Locker Nameplates
Nice and lots of details!
How fast did you run it?
Did you have to do a lot of cleanups?

Impressive. This is exactly why I bought my machine, to make placards for antique aircraft being rebuild. Might you have some example of the code you used to get such good results? I'm new to CNC and would like to see an example to help me start learning to make these placards.

For starters this is my bible for speeds and feeds. There is a lot of good info here. http://www.precisebits.com/tutorials/ca ... speeds.htm
I use between a 2%-4% chip load per tooth to prevent melting on acrylic.
"Feed = 0.02 x D x No. flutes x RPM (2% chipload per tooth)"
Dewalt 611 speed 1 is 16,000RPM (i found a chart on this forum)
.010 2 flute end mill 12 ipm feed (.040x.010x2x16,000)
.0625 2 flute end mill 80 ipm feed (.040x.0625x2x16,000)
These are conservative but leave no swarf or rewelded chips. It took almost 30 logos to find out v-bits are terrible at chip removal and go sloooow. I also use a shopvac to blow and cool the bit and chips via a line loc nozzle.
Workflow
Cellphone Camera
Adobe Illustrator (Image trace)
Vcarve Desktop
Universal Gcode Sender
