Makercam has a mind of its own!!

Post by KRG » Fri Aug 14, 2015 1:49 am

Why does Makercam decide at random to cut right through a letter in a Pocket Cut??? It does it every time I import the SVG file. I have made sure the everything has been saved Object to Path but it still happens. ANY suggestions appreciated. (Its really strange that it does it on the first "s' and not the second one.)

TIme to change your name to Gibon I guess. :D

If you delete the first S, and then copy the second one over there, does it do the same thing?

Check to see if remaking the object in Inkscape will help.

Post the .svg file.

Or try F-engrave — which will look much nicer w/ a V-bit.

Looking into it more, I think MakerCam uses the clockwise/counterclockwise direction of the curve to determine whether it's an inside edge or an outside edge. It's possible that whatever vector app you used to save your SVG made that S in the opposite direction from the others.

You know, now that you mention it, I remember having an issue with makercam inverting radiused corners on some squares. Someone (sorry, I'd give you the credit, but I'm on mobile and don't want to search) said to select all you lines in inkscape and select "Path" - "Combine". It MAY help, but it is not guaranteed.
