I used to have a couple of geckos. Cute little guys. When they became rock solid, I buried them in the back yard.

So far I've used Geckos on 3 projects. In 2009 we used them on 2 stepper motor projects without problems.

Recently I ordered a GM215 and GM201. The GM215 was defective or something odd happened, it worked one day but when I returned the next no longer worked ever again and I returned it. The new one works without problems.

The GM201 I ordered happened to be a version where the common is +5V instead of GND! That threw me for a loop for an hour or so.

I have been running a G540 for about 2 years and have never had a problem with it. It just works.

I've been running a G540 for the last couple of months. Even shorted the input + and - connectors and it hasn't skipped a beat before or after! Can't say the same for any other piece of electronic equipment!
Modified Shapeoko 2: 1500mm fully supported y-axis, 1000 mm 4060 x-axis, ACME Belt Drive Z-axis, Dewalt DNP611, full aluminum t-slot table, 4x NEMA23 180 oz/in stepper motors driven by a G540

I've been running a STDR-4C which runs off the Gecko 540, and Ethernet smooth stepper and love it. Very smooth and glitch free setup.
Shapeoko 2 - Acme Rod/Belt Drive, Nema 23 steppers, 300 Watt Spindle - other wise stock
Shapeoko 2 inspired custom build - 1500 X 1000mm, Routakit HD Z and X axis setup, Nema 23 276oz steppers, 800 Watt Spindle, Geck 540/ Soigeneris STDR-4C controlled.
