got my g540

Post by lioramsalem » Thu May 07, 2015 2:58 pm

Hi,
Got my g540 few days ago, working on assembly and I'll post some pictures.
Meanwhile, I've ordered few things:
1. GC-01 V2 Gecko 540 Chiller:
http://www.homanndesigns.com/store/inde ... ucts_id=75
Started to look how do I put everything into an enclosure and liked these fans (runs off the 48V power supply)

2. 48V relay:
http://www.homanndesigns.com/store/inde ... ucts_id=88
To control the power supply to the spindle.

3. case:
http://www.hammondmfg.com/pdf/1402KV.pdf
Decided to go with this one based on this build: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/gecko-dri ... forum.html

Cheers,
LA

That looks like a pretty nice setup. Are you going to cut more vent holes in the top of the enclosure? It looked like there might be some on the corners of the shell pieces, but I could not tell from the cut sheet. Might be a good idea to cut fan port, and you can run it off of the power supply variable drive. It will only turn on when the power supply gets warm, but it would cool the whole enclosure nicely.

I've already made a hole for a fan in the front plate and two exhaust cutouts in the top plate.
The temperature seems to be ok, it's not even called warm to touch.
