Waste Board Dimensions
Re: Waste Board Dimensions
The fasteners for the wasteboard to the frame are actually M5 so there is a little room for adjustment to get the machine square allowing for variances.

Re: Waste Board Dimensions
Shouldn't it be 640mm of distance between the two corner holes in the X direction? eg:
X <------------640mm------------> X
...................................
...................................
...................................
X <------------640mm------------> X
With the excess wasteboard material around the outside of the holes not really making much of a difference?
(I could be wording that badly due to being tired)

Re: Waste Board Dimensions
It seems edward has deleted his drawing from the dropbox link (I assume it was an accident). I downloaded it previously, so it is attached to this post.
Edit: Apologies, a better version is available on the carbide3d website: http://carbide3d.com/files/S3_Wasteboard.pdf

Re: Waste Board Dimensions
We just sent RAWINDESIGN's file for fabrication, and realised the dimensions are WRONG !!!!! When you look at Edward's drawing, there is 679.64-37.91=641.73mm from one left fixation screw to the one on the right. On RAWINDESIGN's file, he specifies 640mm. Which is a difference of 1.73mm and well, holes don't align! Now we have a pretty big paperweight... You are better off using Edward's design instead of trusting someone else design like we did...

He suggests a solution to that here:

If using the files I posted which do not account for that random extra 1.73mm "someone" decided to add to one side of the wasteboard dimension, just open all of the mounting holes up with a 1/4" drill and the board mounts fine, centered evenly across the machine

Re: Waste Board Dimensions
Hi Will, thanks for the answer. I don't understand the whole story. Of course I can enlarge the holes, what i don't get now is why is a wrong design is still shared and who is this "someone", i guess i missed a bit...

Re: Waste Board Dimensions
My understanding is at some point an erroneous drawing was posted, folks had problems, worked around them, then the drawing was updated.
