Fan screw size
Fan screw size
I'm wondering what size of screws should be part of the Shapeoko kit.
The screws that came in the same box as the fan are too wide for the shroud and are less than the 25mm in length the instructions say they should be.
There weren't any other left of screws from the kit so I'm assuming these are supposed to be the screws.
Is it safe to run the Shapeoko without the fan attached for the time being?

Re: Fan screw size
AIUI, hardware for attaching the fan isn’t included, since it’s not necessary.
I used M3 as noted on the wiki: http://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/ ... ther_Items, but have unplugged my fan. I think #6 would fit. Another option would be zip ties.

Re: Fan screw size
Those look like fan screws to me. You'll need to be firm with the screwdriver the first time, but once they've tapped their way in, they'll go easier next time.

I used M3 x 25 for the fan.

Yah, as cvoinescu said, those screws will self-tap. I found it easier to take cover off of the electronics board and lay it flat.

Re: Fan screw size
I ended up with 1" #6 screws from home depot, worked no issues.
Re: Fan screw size
And I just enlarged and countersunk the existing holes... (fan on the inside)
